FMP Evaluation
Project Overview:
The primary goal of my project was to globalise the podcast by reaching audiences in North America, Europe, and India through having international guests and Punjabi-language episodes. This objective was rooted in my ambition to create a culturally rich and internationally known platform that connects the global Sikh diaspora through content and strategic outreach, as outlined in my project proposal. The idea for the final media project came to mind during my time as a social media manager for Khalsa Panth UK, where I identified a clear market gap. There was no podcast platform dedicated to conversations about Sikh traditions, especially Nihang Singh history and ideology. At first my project involved inviting multiple guests. However, due to schedule clashes and availability issues with individuals, I had to adapt my approach. This meant re-evaluating my guest list, while still aligning with the main goal of international growth. Guests like Sikhfinity and Fateh Singh became ideal guests, as their perspectives continued to support the podcast’s global and intellectual direction, by having mindful conversation about topics many are not confident enough to discuss. Despite changes in the practical, the project still remained focused on the aim to offer culturally enriched content that unites Sikh communities worldwide, proving the flexibility and resilience of my planning.
Development Process:
The planning for my podcast project began with brainstorming topics and choosing guests who would bring meaningful conversations to the audience of the Bhujangi podcast. At first I invited a number of guests, but had difficulties with scheduling a recording, due to their unavailability. At the end, only three guests were confirmed, from which one had to withdraw due to a family emergency. Since one of the three guests had to cancel, I began to look at other guests based on both availability and alignment with my podcast’s cultural focus. I adapted by reaching out to individuals I knew personally. Harpreet Singh and Gurminder Singh, were both flexible with timing and supported the project, with us doing the first podcast with: a sehajdhari sikh and amritdhari which was very open and inspiring. Sikhfinity was already collaborating with Khalsa Panth UK, so I pitched the podcast as part of the partnership, integrating content and marketing target.
Lastly, Fateh Singh, also a close friend, came down at a last-minute notice to record Episode 7. His experience with Dal Panths and other Sampardas made him the perfect guest with depth and quality of discussion I wanted to achieve. I then brainstormed the episode topics through continuous research and analysis of trending Sikh topics, which can be seen in my research section, and used the data to tailor the podcast content to match audience interests. Being research-driven allowed me to navigate setbacks and refine the podcast’s development while keeping it aligned with my audience and the project’s original goals of cultural relevance and global reach.
Production Process
The production process for the Bhujangi Podcast evolved significantly from my initial schedule due to unforeseen challenges with guest availability. My original plan included a structured recording timeline with confirmed guests like Jatinder Singh Durhailay for Episode 7, but as evidenced in my planing and production, last-minute cancellations required quick adaptation. When Jatinder needed to reschedule due to a family emergency just 2 days prior to our recording. Nearing the FMP deadline, I had to pivot rapidly, reaching out to Fateh Singh as a replacement guest. This unexpected shift compressed my production timeline dramatically, requiring me to conduct planning sessions as late as 2 AM to accommodate Fateh’s night shift schedule. Despite these challenges, they strengthened the project by demonstrating my ability to adapt under pressure while maintaining the podcast’s core vision of amplifying diverse Sikh voices and experiences across the world.
Tools and Techniques
Throughout the production of the Bhujangi Podcast, I utilised a combination of industry standard tools and innovative techniques to create high-quality content. For in-person recordings like Episodes 5 and 7, I leveraged the Global Academy Podcast Suite equipped with Rode microphones and Black Magic cameras, coupled with a vision mixer for dynamic live visual transitions. For remote episodes like Episode 6 with Sikhfinity, I used the software Riverside Studio, which allowed seamless recording with guests abroad while maintaining professional audio quality by capturing high-definition WAV audio files. My editing approach emphasised authentic conversations while carefully structuring the narrative flow around themes of Sikh identity, cultural expression, and personal journeys. I also implemented cross-platform compatibility in my technical workflow, ensuring episodes could be distributed across both video and audio-only platforms without compromising quality or accessibility.
Quality Control
To ensure consistent quality throughout the production, I implemented strategic quality control measures:
Before each recording, I conducted practice sessions with guests, as demonstrated with Sikhfinity where we held an hour-long pre-recording discussion to establish flow and identifying any technical issues. For technical quality, I used professional equipment like my Blue Yeti microphone for remote sessions and the academy’s professional setup for in-person recordings. I prioritised pre-production planning through detailed research on each guest, creating focused discussion guides while maintaining flexibility for natural conversation. When facing potential content concerns, as with the revised Episode 7, I carefully filtered topics with Fateh Singh, removing any potentially problematic topics that didn’t align with the podcast’s mission, as some may have been deemed controversial. My approach to quality control ensured that even episodes produced under tight deadlines maintained the professional standards that defined the podcast series.
Challenges Encountered
During the production of the Bhujangi Podcast, I encountered numerous challenges that tested my adaptability and problem-solving skills. The most prominent challenge was managing guest scheduling conflicts, particularly with Jatinder Singh Durhailay’s last-minute cancellation for Episode 7 just days before my FMP deadline. Working across different time zones with international guests like Sikhfinity created additional logistical hurdles, requiring late-night recording sessions. Technical challenges also came when transitioning between in-person recording at the academy’s podcast suite and remote recording using Riverside Studio, each requiring different setup and quality control procedures. This was highlighted within Episode 7’s urgent replacement. I faced the challenge of condensing what would normally be weeks of research, planning, recording, editing, and marketing into just 2-3 days. Additionally, I had to navigate the sensitive nature of certain discussion topics, carefully filtering content that might be problematic while still creating meaningful conversations.
Overcoming Challenges
To overcome the production challenges I faced with the Bhujangi Podcast, I implemented strategies rooted in both technical knowledge and theoretical understanding of media production. When Jatinder Singh Durhailay cancelled Episode 7, I applied contingency planning principles by immediately leveraging my existing network to secure Fateh Singh as a replacement guest. This demonstrated my understanding of production continuity, which emphasises the importance of maintaining a momentum despite setbacks. For technical consistency across different recording environments, I referenced industry standards for podcast production, ensuring comparable audio quality between in-person and remote sessions by using professional-grade microphones and extracting high-quality WAV files from Riverside Studio. To manage the compressed timeline for the revised Episode 7, I applied agile production methodology, focusing on core content deliverables while streamlining the editing process. I also utilised digital communication platforms effectively, creating dedicated group chats with guests and holding late-night planning sessions when necessary, showing my ability to adapt communication strategies to meet production demands regardless of conventional working hours.
Youtube Performance Evaluation
Episode 5

EPISODE 5 I Faith In Progress: A Sehajdhari’s Sikh Journey
Episode 5 performed very well, exceeding over 3.8k views and over 750 hours of watch time, I believe this podcast episode was a success, due to the performance being so high even though the podcast has a very small and niche audience.

Episode 6

EPISODE 6 I Sikhfinity: The Artist behind the name I In Punjabi
This episode did not perform as well as I expected, as it only gained 1.2k views. Lower than the average viewership of 4.1k.
I believe the reason behind this is that this episode was the first episode that was filmed remotely, which made it a different experience for the podcast listeners and viewers, I can analyse aspects of the recording that can be improved in order to improve it the next time I do a remote podcast episode.
Things that can be improved:
Host webcam: Instead of using Apple’s in-built webcam, I can use an external camera to enhance camera clarity to increase user experience.
Extensive social marketing: Even though I made posters to advertise the podcast episode, I believe I could have used Instagrams, Live feature to go live with the guest and interact with the audience to built a connection with them to establish a keen interest into watching the podcast.
Overall, I think it was a good episode, from which I can take a lot to learn from, for my next podcast episodes.

This episode preformed very well as it gained over 3k views in under a week, exceeding expectations and also showing the scope doing an episode in Punjabi and advertising correctly can do.
I ensured I posted a reel as a teaser before the podcast was released to create an established interest, which was successful.
Each of the instagram reels that I have posted have reached over 30k views, showing the correlating performance on Youtube and Instagram.

Evaluation and Reflection:
What worked well in your project and why?
My podcast marketing strategy proved to be effective, with my Instagram engagement exceeding 232,000 during the podcast release. Thec success can be attributed to my approach of using Instagram- where my target audience was already active, to market the podcast. The Google feedback form data confirmed this strategy’s effectiveness, as the majority of listeners discovered the podcast through Instagram.
The market research I conducted as social media manager for Khalsa Panth UK provided valuable insights that informed my content strategy. With 81% of my audience expressing interest in discussion/podcast style content, and equal engagement from both 15-20 and 21-30 age groups (37% each), I was able to tailor my content specifically to these demographics’ preferences. My multi-platform approach using Instagram and YouTube, with an emphasis on short-form content to drive traffic to the full length episodes, created an effective content ecosystem that maximised visibility and engagement.
What could have been improved in my project and how?
The scope of my project, particularly regarding the number of guests and episodes planned, could have been refined. In particular, focusing on a single guest would have allowed me to dedicate more time and resources to perfecting every aspect of that recording. This focused approach would have potentially resulted in an even higher quality production, as I could have ensured each element met the highest standards. The challenge of managing multiple guests and episodes as a solo producer spread my time and attention across many variables, which, while successful, created unnecessary pressure on the production timeline. If I had focused on promoting just one podcast, I could have developed a much more detailed and strategic marketing campaign specifically tailored to the episode. Concentrating on a single episode would have allowed me to schedule better timings for teasers and film behind-the-scenes content leading up to the episode’s release. By not spreading my attention across multiple projects, I would have had the opportunity to analyse engagement metrics in real time and adjust the strategy as needed, resulting in greater reach.
How did you use your monthly evaluation and reflections to make decisions during the project?
My monthly evaluations and reflections served as an analytical tool for completing the project. The regular assessments allowed me to objectively examine my current position and progress, to identify both strengths and areas needing improvement to therefore implement necessary adjustments to my approach.
By consistently evaluating my work, I was able to make informed decisions about timeline management and content strategy. When I encountered challenges: scheduling conflicts with guests or technical issues, my reflection process helped me prioritise solutions and adapt my workflow accordingly. This approach to project management ensured that each step forward was built with the lessons learned from previous experiences, continuously improving production process.
What did you learn from the project?
This project revealed the complexity of podcast production when handled by a single individual. I discovered that hosting, organising, editing, and marketing a podcast embodies such a broad range of specialised skills that any one of these aspects would normally require a full-time role. The nature of the type of production I was doing, requires mastery across technical, creative, and promotional domains, making it particularly challenging for a solo creator. Despite these challenges, I learned that dedication and strategic time management can overcome resource limitations. Through careful planning and consistent effort, I was able to produce a podcast that achieved showed quality standards and gained international recognition. This experience taught me the value of persistence, adaptability, and attention to detail, as well as the importance of leveraging existing networks and platforms to maximise reach. Most importantly, I gained insight into audience engagement across different platforms and how to tailor content to meet specific demographic preferences. The success of my marketing strategy demonstrated that understanding your audience’s behaviour and platform preferences is crucial for effective content distribution and engagement.
What would I do differently if I was to do this project again?
If I was to do this project again, I would narrow my focus to produce fewer, higher-quality episodes. This approach would allow me to dedicate more time to pre-production research, technical setup, and post-production refinement, resulting in a polished final product. I would establish a more structured production schedule with built-in buffer time to accommodate unexpected delays or technical issues. This would reduce stress and prevent rushing through important production steps when challenges arise. Finally, I would develop a more comprehensive analytics framework from the very beginning to better track performance across all platforms, allowing for more data-driven adjustments to content strategy throughout the project lifecycle.

I had 2 favourites – EP 5 as it felt really nice to see the inclusivity of younger sangat. It is extremely captivating to hear that the Bhujangi podcast includes everyone no matter their Sikhi journey, it provides an amazing example, that no matter what you look like you can still maintain a relationship with maharaj. I also loved EP 7 as there was good chemistry between Fateh Singh and Balraj Singh. He interviewed Fateh Singh in such a captivating way, allowing him to speak fully without interrupting him. He has a beautiful way of letting conversations flow in honestly every episode.

One thing that could be improved is the lighting, Episode 7 was quite dark for those watching on YouTube. Also, when specific individuals like a Jathedar are mentioned, it would be great to include their photos or visuals on-screen to help viewers connect more with the content.
One improvement I would suggest is do podcasts face to face and maybe give Bhujangis advice what to do and suggest books to read to gain more knowledge about there history and Maryada and give Bhujangis advice.
